Stuart D. Dempster, 58, of Boise, passed away November 7, 2024. He was born September 25, 1966 to Donald and Karen Dempster at Baker City, Or. He grew up on a farm near Aberdeen, Idaho. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Army. He was stationed at Ft. Belvoir Virginia.
After receiving an honorable discharge, he joined a US forest Hot Shot crew where he fought forest fires throughout out the West. After the seventh season, he decided to leave to attend college He received his bachelor and master’s degrees in counseling and social work. He dedicated his life to helping others. His career was spent at the Idaho state Veteran’s hospital in Boise working with helping vets deal with issues resulting in their time spent in Viet Nam, Iraq and Afghanistan. The last several years before his death he concentrated on finding housing for homeless veterans.
He is survived by his daughter Dalia Dempster, parents Don and Karen Dempster, his sister Angela (Rich) Housley, and brother Donald (Lisa)Dempster, and nieces Bailey and Bridget Dempster and nephews Jack Housley, Greg Housley, William Housley and Stuart Dempster. Bruce Barlow and Kory Waford were life-long friends who felt like brothers.
A committal service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 3, 2024 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Road, Boise, Idaho. A celebration of life will be held, 2:00 pm, Friday, January 3, 2025 at Bowman Funeral Parlor, 10254 W. Carlton Bay Dr., Garden City, Idaho.
