Steven Paul Brown

Steven Paul Brown passed away October 22, 2023, early morning peacefully at home, surrounded by his beloved wife and daughters. Steve resided in Caldwell, Idaho but was born on March 26, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he spent the majority of his life. Steve is survived by his wife Michelle, daughters Meagan (Jonathan) and Danielle (James), grandson McGregor, mother Carole, niece Jennifer (Pat), best friends Dave, Tim and Ken, and his beloved Yorkie, Gizzy. Steve was preceded in death by his two sisters Diane and Julie and his nephew Jason.

Steve and Michelle met when they were in elementary school, they dated in high school but went in different directions before finding their way back to one another in their mid-twenties. Steve and Michelle would have celebrated 34 years of marriage in November, 2023. They are true examples of best friends for life. Steve cared for Michelle when she received a double lung transplant in 2019 and Michelle cared for Steve through cancer three times in the last five years. Steve would tell anyone who would listen how lucky he was to have Michelle and his two daughters, Meagan and Danielle.

Steve had a fulfilling career as a union plumber, from which he retired in 2021. He loved working with his hands and teaching others. Steve especially loved working alongside his apprentices and training the next generation of plumbers. When he wasn’t working, he was often found cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, watching racing, and cooking. He was a lover of anything with wheels, he had an appreciation for a variety of trucks, cars, trikes and bikes. He felt like his life was complete when he finally got his Harley V-Rod, he talked about riding it every day until the end. His retirement was regretfully brief. When he was healthy, Steve and Michelle enjoyed traveling, especially with their grandson McGregor.

Steve always believed that family came first. He worked hard all of his life to provide for his family. His family never went without or wanted for anything, even when times were difficult. Steve also had an amazing network of friends. He would always say that if you could count your true friends on one hand, you were blessed. Steve had many friends who stuck by his side for decades, they are forever part of the family. His friends and family will never be ready to say goodbye, but they are glad Steve is no longer in pain.

Special thanks to the hospice team for their care of Steve and his family.

At Steve’s request, no services are planned.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.
