Sondra Ann Bryant

September 26, 1937 — March 3, 2026

Boise

We are sad to announce the passing of Sondra Ann Bryant of Boise, Idaho. She died peacefully at the age of 88 at Timber Springs Retirement Center.

Sondra was born September 26, 1937, in Buhl, Idaho, to her loving parents, Louis and Vonda (Briggs) Teply. She was their oldest daughter followed six years later by her younger sister Dianne. Sondra was raised in Mountain Home and had a wonderful childhood. She graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1955 and went on to the University of Idaho. She joined Alpha Phi Sorority and became house president her senior year. Sondra graduated with a Bachelor of Science in education, with a major in Social Studies and a major in English. This led to a long, esteemed career teaching at Boise High School from 1960 to 1997. She was chairman of the Business Department and director of the Vocational Office Program. Many Boise High graduates learned the art of shorthand, typing/keyboarding and office skills from Mrs. Bryant. Sondra was an excellent role model for students and peers and mentored many new teachers.

Sondra married Donn Bryant in 1959, and they had two sons: Kurtis in 1964 and Neil in 1970. Sondra loved life, her family and her friends! She had a special love for McCall, Idaho, and spent much valuable time there with her family through the years. Because of Sondra, her children and grandchildren also inherited her love of the mountains and especially of McCall.

Sondra had a strong sense of “paying it forward” and she loved to volunteer. Through the years she was an active member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and served in many different capacities–from working on the Chimes Newsletter to having church pews repaired or replaced. She loved serving her church, her neighbors and her community. She volunteered for many years at the Garden City Library and was a member of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization, a national civic organization that motivates, educates and celebrates women).

Sondra’s grandchildren would say she deeply appreciated traditions and collecting special keepsakes. She loved nothing more than to play cards or boardgames with anyone who wanted to participate or learn. She enjoyed doing needlepoint, an art she learned from her mother, and was proud to share her beautiful work. Sondra was an excellent hostess and party organizer, relishing opportunities to chat and to visit. She carried this well into retirement too, delighting in meeting with old friends.

Sondra is survived by her sons Kurtis (Kari) Bryant of Boise, Neil (Kris) Bryant of Boise, and her five grandchildren, Kayla (Levi) Radford, Madeline (Jim) Elkin, Kendra Bryant, Zack Bryant, Kaden Bryant, and one great-grandson, Waylon Radford.

She is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Vonda (Briggs) Teply and by her sister Dianne Dana.

Sondra’s enthusiasm and love of life has been an inspiration and will be missed.
