Shirley Ann Glemser

It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Glemser on August 12, 2026. Shirley passed away in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Shirley was born in Hayward, California in 1943.

Shirley grew up in the Bay Area participating in ballet and ice-skating, and later moved to South Lake Tahoe where she rode horses and developed a passion for skiing, eventually making the high school ski team.

After graduation from high school, Shirely attended San Jose State University where she earned a teaching degree and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. While attending the University, Shirley met Dennis Philp, and the two married and resided in San Jose for a few years. Shirley and Dennis had two sons, Ed Philp and Christopher Philp. Adventure took them to Boise, Idaho, where they lived for many years.

Shirley married Fred Glemser in Council, Idaho in 1979. The two shared 37 years of marriage together, working in ranching and real estate. Fred had two sons, Dwayne Glemser and Jeffery Glemser. Shirley resided in Council for over 40 years. She enjoyed raising sheep, riding horses, participating in local 4-H, riding for local Angel Rider’s. She expressed her creativity through crocheting, watercolor painting, and artwork.

After the passing of Fred, Shirley sold their ranch and moved back to the comforts of Boise where her two sons had been residing.

Soon after Shirley’s move back to Boise, she met her partner, Roger Knight. Together the two loved walking their dogs, cycling through the greenbelt, playing pickleball and enjoying all the families in the neighborhood.

Shirleys hobbies consisted of gardening and knitting, she loved her plants and flower, often giving them away to all the young families on the block for Mother’s Day. Shirley was also a devout Catholic and religiously attended church. Her faith was her compass of life.

Shirley is survived by her partner, Roger Knight; sons, Ed (Karoline) Philp and Christopher Philp, Dwayne (Kimberlee) Glemser, and Jeffrey Glemser. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

She was a remarkable woman with quiet strength, patience, a kind spirit, and always had encouraging words for others. Her presence was a gift, showing love in listening. She will be deeply mourned and lovingly remembered.

A funeral mass will be held, 2:00 pm, Monday, August 24, 2026 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Rd., Meridian, Idaho, with a recitation of the rosary beginning at 1:00 pm.

Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at the Hornet Creek Cemetery in Council, Idaho.

A reception will follow the burial at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 2034-2060 Us-95, Council, Idaho.
