Sherry Lynne (Rogers) Holgate, age 74 passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Eagle, Idaho on Thursday night, February 18, 2021 of natural causes. Sherry was born October 1, 1946 in Boise, Idaho to Harold and Patricia (Jolley) Rogers. She was the third of seven children. Sherry leaves a legacy of 5 children, 26 grandchildren and 14 ½ great grandchildren who cherish her example of love, faith, and strength.
Sherry’s lifelong love and gift was music! She was a music teacher for more than 30 years in Sweet, Emmett, Kuna, and Horseshoe Bend. She taught both choir and band and directed many musicals over the course of her teaching years. She had many private students that she taught in her home. She was always anxious to share her gift of music and found great joy in seeing her students develop their own love for singing and playing the instruments she loved so much, especially voice, guitar, and piano. Recitals were a favorite time for her and her students. She loved to compose music and wrote and published a series of guitar method books. She performed at many local events and church services over the years and especially loved these experiences with her children and grandchildren. Sherry has truly left a legacy of love through music!
Sherry was born a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her membership in the church and her testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ were the most important things in her life. She loved the opportunity to minister to others. Family history work was something she was passionate about and she for years helped greatly with the effort of indexing. Sherry served in many callings in the church and she magnified all these callings, some of her favorites being ward chorister and choir director. She loved singing songs of praise to her Savior!
She is preceded in death by her father Harold, her mother Patricia, and her brothers Harold Craig and Randy. She is survived by her sisters Peggy, Tracey, Stephanie, and Rebecca, her brothers David and Kevin, her daughter Kimberly Kofoed (LaVar), her daughter Heather Davis (Roman), her daughter Jennifer Gee, her son Kenneth Paul Gee Jr (Elizabeth), her son Tyler Tullis (Tara), 26 grandchildren, and 14 ½ great grandchildren.

Our hearts are broken at her passing and we already miss her so much, but we are grateful that her mind and body are once again whole, and we have no doubt that there was a glorious reunion with her parents and her aunts Faye and Laneve who she loved so dearly! No doubt there were a lot of hugs, kisses, laughter, and music at her coming.
