Shellee Elliott, 65, went home to be with the Lord on September 30, 2024, with her husband Jonathan by her side after a valiant battle with breast cancer and then a rare degenerative disease called Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). Shellee was born in Antioch, California to Ronald and Judith McComak on September 29, 1959. Shellee was the third of four children: Rene, Christi, Shellee, and Todd.

Growing up, Shellee was, unsurprisingly, outgoing and well-liked. She was a varsity cheerleader and enjoyed performing in school talent shows.

After graduating from Antioch High School in 1977, Shellee received a scholarship to a local business school and worked for a local insurance agent. Shellee and Jonathan met in December 1979 at a department store. Shellee introduced herself and they began dating immediately. Less than six months later they married on June 14, 1980. They began their adventure together through jobs, college and the Marine Corps. Their various adventures found Jonathan away from home quite often. However, true to Shellee’s nature, she never complained and supported her husband and children without fail. Shellee’s children are a testament to her dedication to Christ and her family.

Shellee collected a beautiful bouquet of friends wherever she lived and was a joyful encourager of friends and family across the country. She would routinely welcome new neighbors and friends with meals and also loved to send and receive cards of encouragement. Shellee had a compassionate heart that beat for those around her, especially her children.

On March 24, 1986, Shellee and Jonathan welcomed Brittnee (Burns) while stationed in Hawaii. Ten years later, they welcomed Noah on May 13, 1996, while living in Virginia.

Shellee wholeheartedly embraced her role as Marine wife and dedicated and loving mom to her children, but her greatest transformation began in Texas in 1991 when she placed her trust in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Shellee embarked on the life changing journey of knowing Jesus through the Bible and loving her friends, family, and neighbors with the kindness of Christ. Shellee’s ultimate passion was sharing the Gospel and her heart’s ultimate desire was for all to come to a saving knowledge of Christ.

Her tent was worn out after fighting on for many years, but she is shining brighter than ever today in the presence of her Savior. “For our momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18).

Shellee will be remembered for her irrepressible energy, and her desire to tell others about Jesus! Her nicknames included “Shellee Shine”, hummingbird, and mama.

Shellee is survived by her husband Jonathan Elliott, and her two children Brittnee (Samuel) Burns, Noah Elliott, and her grandson Jack Burns. The first time she met Jack, before holding him, she exclaimed, “I just love him so much.”  She said this phrase every time she saw him.

The family would like to thank enhabit Home Health & Hospice for providing Shellee with care and comfort during her last few months. The overwhelming expression of love and support of family, friends, her home Church, and the host of Bible-centered ministries she listened to sustained and encouraged her while bed-ridden. They gave her so much peace, joy, and happiness as she absorbed God’s Word to the end of her earthly life.
