Sharon Cartwright (71) passed from this earth in her home in Boise, Idaho on/or about March 7, 2025. She was born in Red Cloud, Nebraska, the closest town to the family farm in Jewell County, Kansas on August 3, 1953. She was the third child of Leo Neil Cartwright and Roma Georgene (Gile) Cartwright. She joined older brothers Larry Lynn and Dennis Duaine to complete the Cartwright family. While “babe in arms” she moved with her family to Idaho in December 1953.
Sharon started school in the Vallivue School District and graduated from Meridian High School in 1971. As an adult she served as an administrative assistant to a member of the Idaho Legislature and later moved to Washington DC as an assistant to one of the staff members for Cecil Andrus when he served as Secretary of Interior during the Carter Administration. After returning to Boise she was employed by the Idaho Petroleum Storage Tank Insurance Fund. After completing the certification requirements to become an Insurance Underwriter through Boise State University, she served as an Underwriter for the Fund. She retired from that post after over 20 years of service in 2020.
The priorities in Sharon’s life during retirement included her 100-year-old house in North Boise, her family, having lunch with friends, and animals (especially cats). I would not attempt to put these in order of importance, though I suspect Ally and Abby – her cats were near the top. Come to think of it, Abby and Ally were the only ones to rate separate folders in her unique filing system.
Sharon was preceded in death by her brother Larry (1997), her parents L. N. (Neil) (2016) and Roma (2022) Cartwright. She is survived by her brother Dennis (Mary) Cartwright, niece Jolene Cartwright, nephew Bryan Cartwright, great nephews Hayden Cartwright and Brenton (Hana) Cartwright, great nieces Olivia Bernal and Sophia Bernal.
Sharon will be missed.
