Sean Adam Corey, “known by the Father when he was formed in the womb, set apart and appointed for great things” was born on October 14, 1970 to Charles Jr. and Diane (Curtis) Corey in San Mateo, CA.  As early as 9 months, he was already walking and showing his pension to dive into life. By 2 years his curiosity was evident as well as his desire for knowledge, always searching for something to read. His childhood photos capture his magnetic smile and of course his fashion sense (plaid pants forever!) He excelled academically with teachers recognizing the need to give him more to learn. His childhood launched his desire to travel the world living in California, South Dakota, Colorado and Wyoming.   His fascination with adventure, gadgets and science fiction was rooted in his childhood with Star Wars, Evil Knevil, and engines of all kinds.  Sean’s siblings were his best friends – the many shenanigans of the Corey boys built lifelong bonds. Sean was seen as a mentor by each of his siblings, his encouragement, guidance, energy, generosity, and acceptance is cherished by each of them.

In 1988 he joined the Navy and graduated with Distinction reserved for those students who exhibit exemplary military conduct, exceptional leadership, and academic achievement. While achieving Chief of Naval Technical Training, the title of Second-Class Petty Officer, Gas Turbine System Technician Second Class, he received multiple commendations for his meticulous attention to detail, unwavering professional pride in the correction of discrepancies, and for exceptional performance of demanding duties in an exemplary manner during the liberation of Kuwait. Sean received his Honorable Discharge Certificate in June of 1996 and moved back to Casper to pursue an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Electronic Technology, graduating in 1998.

Sean met his wife, Kim, in 1997 and he still hung on after she accidently gave him her wrong phone number when he asked for it. They were married in July of 2001 and after a few years of living in Colorado, they moved to Boise, Idaho where Sean completed a Bachelor of Accountancy from Boise State University in 2008.  Sean was admired by many co-workers, built many friendships, “he left a strong legacy and will be missed”. In 2012, Sean and Kim became licensed for foster care and welcomed Grace, Livia and Luca into their home and hearts.  They became a Forever Family December 19, 2014.

Sean loved adventures, travel, the outdoors, tinkering and helping anyone who needed it (Kim’s Mom, who adored Sean, really enjoyed when he came to visit and was on kitchen clean up duty). He was curious and inquisitive – a lifelong learner and teacher.  His sparkle was magnetic, and he loved to laugh and joke around. Hooting and hollering while night skiing and diving in Belize with black-tip reef sharks were favorites…he never kept his hands to himself while diving… until after ending up with painful barnacles in his fingertips.

In August of 2022, Sean was diagnosed with Esophageal Adenocarcinoma, which he fought valiantly and tirelessly for 15 months. He died peacefully at home with his wife by his side, holding his hand.

Sean is survived by his loving wife, Kim, of 22 years and his 3 children; his mother, Diane; his siblings, Charles III, Celene (Jim Kirkendall), Jason (Miranda), Chris (Angie), Aron (Erica), Alan (Deanna); along with a large fun loving – caring extended family.

He was preceded in death by his daddy and grandparents.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Foothills Christian Church, 9655 W. State St. in Garden City.
