Ruth P Greer, a retired public employee of Colorado, passed away quietly on April 24, 2023, just 4 days short of her 97 th birthday.  She had been residing at Edgewood Plantation Place in Boise Idaho.

Ruth was one of 4 children of Donovan E and Ruth M Chase of Port Jervis NY.   Of the 4 siblings, Dorothy (Chase) Decker survives, residing in Port Jervis.  Ruth was married to Robert Greer and together they celebrated 72 years of marriage.  They had 3 children, all born in Colorado.  Robert passed in 2020 from Covid.  Two of the children, Robyn Zimmermann and David Greer were present at her passing.    Her third child, Richard, preceded her in death.

Ruth experienced life in 4 primary locations.  Her birth home and residence until college was in Port Jervis NY, where she also met her future husband. Favorite activities for Ruth included attending high school football games, which her father coached, and church outings. She graduated from the College of William & Mary in 1948 and married Robert that same year in her home town of Port Jervis. The newly married couple moved to Colorado where Robert graduated from the University of Denver.  Favorite family activities included camping and canoeing.  Ruth also enjoyed playing bridge and keeping Robyn dressed in the latest home-sewn fashions.  Retirement of Ruth and Robert lead them to Montana, where they built their dream log home near Whitefish. Ruth enjoyed many hobbies including quilting, gardening, knitting, and burning fir tree branches collected from their 5-acre forested homesite.  Ruth so enjoyed their golden retriever, Cinder, spending many hours on the deck of their log home with the beloved dog. Montana was also home at that time to all 3 adult children.  Her final “settlement” was near Boise Idaho where both David & Robyn had relocated for their retirement years.

Ruth is survived by David and Nancy Greer, Robyn and John Zimmermann, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and extended family.  Ruth will be buried with her husband in the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise.
