• Rupert Lee “Jack” Britton passed away at home with family by his side on February 24, 2022 at the age of 90.  He went home to the Lord following a brief hospitalization for his heart.  Jack spent 2021 celebrating his upcoming 90th Birthday at Rodeos in multiple states, camping with the Kids/Grandkids/Great-grandkids, Texas-Two-Stepping at his grandson’s Ranch Wedding, and Square Dancing at his 90th Birthday Hoedown.  Jack is predeceased by Joyce Charlene Tunnell Britton, his beloved wife of 55 years, and precious daughter Rhonda Sue Britton.  He is lovingly remembered by son & daughter-in-law, Kevin & Judy Britton, grandchildren Rupert Boehling, Lisa Boehling, Daniel Britton, Michael Britton, Elizabeth Fox & Sarah Bolin, 17 great-grandchildren & 11 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous relatives & friends.  Jack was born in Florence, Colorado, but moved at an early age to Southern California where he spent most of his life.  He attended Jordon High School, where he met wife-to-be Joyce; and they marched together in the Rose Parade, Joyce playing the flute & he the tuba. Jack & Joyce raised their family in Garden Grove. Jack was an incredibly hard worker, first with the Teamsters, then as a Merchant Marine Officer (Chief Engineer, Reefer Star, Starkist Fishing Fleet) traveling to far-flung primitive ports around the world (enthralling us with tales of his adventures) then eventually opting for a tamer position as a Maintenance Mechanic for Pilkington Aerospace back home in Garden Grove. Jack “retired” to the Murrieta Ranch, home for the next two decades.  He was ALWAYS busy: teaching Centered Riding; splitting logs for a firewood company; rounding-up/transporting/tagging cattle & pulling chute at the Murrieta Arena – all the while quietly teaching his grandkids lessons in perseverance, pride in a job well done, and when to break for ice cream!  Jack was NEVER one to sit still!  As a young man, Jack was an avid bowler & water-skier, and loved running his hunting dogs.  Moving to the Idaho Ranch at age 86, he still wore the tread off a new pair of boots every year. Jack enjoyed country music, and though he never grew to appreciate praise bands, his grandkids’ prayers were always music to his ears!

A funeral service will be held, 3:00 pm, Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Foothills Christian Church, 9655 W. State St., Boise.

A graveside service will be held 9:00 am, Friday, March 4, 2022 at Laurel Cemetery, Murrieta, California.
