Roy Elzie Ferguson, Jr., 67, a resident of Horseshoe Bend, passed away September 6, 2025, in Horseshoe Bend.
Roy was born to Roy Sr. and Ernestine. He spent his life working as a roofer, eventually leading his own crew, and was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. He loved his family deeply and carried that love throughout his life.
He was the uncle who fixed bikes for his nieces and nephews, the one who made sure kids had something to do, and the brother who stepped up when times were hard. He taught people around him the value of responsibility and what it meant to take care of family.
If you lived around town you probably knew when Roy was nearby. You could hear that truck of his before you ever saw it, that loud engine was just part of him. And if you were ever around him you knew his sense of humor. He was always cracking jokes and making people laugh even in the hardest times. That’s something we’ll never forget.
He is survived by his son, Roy Ferguson III, and his grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings and many nieces and nephews who cherished his care and guidance. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Sr. and Ernestine, his sister Dana, and his brother Danny (Dannyboy).
The family appreciates the thoughts, prayers, and support of the community during this difficult time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.
