Ronald William Evans, 82

Born – Wadena, Saskatchewan, Canada; Died – Meridian, Idaho

Ron was born on August 5, 1942, in Wadena, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Eileen Mary Bratten. They moved to Boise, Idaho, after Eileen married Clifford Evans in 1950. With this union, Ron gained a brother and four sisters. After moving to Boise, two more brothers were born, completing the family.

Ron attended South Junior High and Borah High School, where he met Rogene Campbell, starting a relationship that would last more than six decades. Ron and Rogene were married on December 14, 1962, in Boise, Idaho. They quickly started their family: Tracey Lynn was born in November 1963, Tammy Lea in June 1967, Terri Lavon in September 1969, and their youngest, Troy Lane, in October 1973.

Ron was a jack of many trades throughout his life. He began by mowing lawns as a kid in his neighborhood. Over the years, he worked as a brick setter, carpenter, mechanic, salesman, and business owner. He worked for Tate’s Rents for many years, holding several positions, but especially enjoyed building scaffolding at sites around the Treasure Valley, including the State Capitol and St. John’s Cathedral remodels in Boise, as well as the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls.

Ron and Rogene owned Clean Sweep Equipment, managing employees, sweeping, and removing snow from parking lots around the valley, often working both days and nights. Later, Ron became manager at Regional Express Delivery Service, running offices in both Idaho and Utah. He went on to own A&E Sharpening until his retirement, providing sharpening services for both individuals and businesses throughout the area. His knowledge and strong work ethic helped many companies grow and succeed.

Ron enjoyed the outdoors all his life—camping, hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, swimming, and water skiing with family and friends. One of his favorite hunting spots was around Banner Mine. He loved skiing at Lucky Peak and swimming at Silver Creek Plunge and Miracle Hot Springs. Dad, I’m so sorry we didn’t get another trip in before you left us.

Ron and Rogene also shared a passion for auto racing, which became a family affair. They began as spectators, but their involvement grew when they owned Clean Sweep and provided sweepers at the track on race nights. Ron soon became an official at the tracks, while Rogene began push-starting open-wheel cars throughout the Northwest and Canada. As the kids and grandkids grew older, they joined in, working and racing at the tracks too. A special memory for the family was a trip to push open-wheel cars at the Bullring in Las Vegas at the end of 2023.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Rogene Evans; three daughters and their spouses: Tracey (Byron) McCombs, Tammy (Kim) Evans, and Terri (Terry) Benson; and his son and girlfriend, Troy (Nikki) Evans. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Gene Evans; sisters-in-law, Connie Evans and Betty Jo Evans; brothers-in-law, Rick (Penny) Campbell and Frank Gargala; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, four sisters, and many in-laws, outlaws, nieces, and nephews.

Everyone Ron met became a friend or family, so please join us for a celebration of his life at the Meridian Speedway Merchant Building on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
