Ronald Lee “Ron” Holland, 98, of Meridian, Idaho, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 26, 1927, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, Ron lived a long, full life defined by faith, service, and devotion to his family, church and community.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Ron was first married to his sweetheart, Wilma Joyce Gibb Holland, with whom he shared 49 wonderful years before her passing in 2002. In 2013, he was blessed to find love again, spending 15 cherished years married to Vonda Lemmon Jones Rowberry Holland. Ron is survived by his wife Vonda; his children with Joyce-- Lori Holland Sillito, Wilma Lee Holland Murri, James (Jimm) Ronald Holland, and Gordon Gibb Holland; their partners, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce and daughter Brenda Holland Burningham.
Ron's life was marked by curiosity, optimism, and integrity. His high school yearbook captured it perfectly—The caption under his photo read “Ron Holland…A friend to all.” That kindness carried through in every aspect of his life. Professionally, he forged a diverse path as a grocer, rancher, import-export entrepreneur, and consultant. Throughout, he was a friend to the great and the small--far and near.
Spiritually, he devoted a lifetime of service to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including a mission to Australia as a young man. Soon after he was called to preside over the Lamanite Mission on Alberta’s Blood Indian Reservation and then as President of the Barrhead, Alberta Branch. Subsequently he served in the presidency of the Edmonton, Alberta Bonnie Doon Stake; then in the presidency of the Chicago, Illinois Mission; and finally in the Presidency of the Edmonton, Alberta Temple.
Civic duty and community involvement were central to Ron’s identity. He served in elected and volunteer roles on the Barrhead, Alberta town council, as fire commissioner, and with local Rotary and Kinsmen/Kiwanis Clubs. His boundless energy for service reflected his deep belief that service to others was service to God.
Ron was a writer, storyteller, and enthusiastic Edmonton Oilers fan. Any day spent fishing, hunting, skiing or boating with the family was a good day. He found his greatest joy in faith, family, and service to others.
His life evokes the words of the Apostle Matthew…
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” (Matthew 25:21)
A funeral service celebrating Ron’s life will be held Saturday, February 21st at 11:00 a.m. It will take place at the LDS Chapel located at 1450 W. Cayuse Creek Drive, Meridian Idaho. An informal gathering of family and friends will precede the funeral service from 10-11 a.m.
