Rodney William Peterson (Rod)
February 23, 1960 —April 30, 2025
Boise –
Our son, brother, uncle, and friend, Rod, was born on February 23, 1960, in Boise Idaho, to Donna F. and Richard D. Peterson Sr.. To some, Rod was known as “#3 son”, as our parents playfully numbered the boys of the family. Rod passed away at home with his wife (Audrey) by his side on April 30, 2025. Rod was a devoted, loving, and wonderful husband.
He graduated from Boise High School in 1979, and was known as one of the true “Braves” of his time. He was a prideful, true fan of his school, and, all of its athletic programs. After graduating from high school, Rod worked in multiple fields of business. One workplace stop was at Flying Pie Pizzeria, where he was nicknamed “Doc”, as he was known for being a problem solver. Another workplace stop was at Hewlett-Packard, where he worked on a PCA “production line”. Rod worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in the dietary kitchen. He drove a school bus, worked at TA Travel Center, and, did some remodeling work.
Rod was an avid BSU fan in all sports, and owned many BSU merchandise to display his “bleed blue” pride. Rod enjoyed the yearly trips with family to Jackpot Nevada, to play the slots, and feast on his favorite casino food. Rod was a great photographer of nature, animals, and, people. He also had a “MacGyver” touch, as he had the ability to solve and fix just about anything. The Peterson family has had many great cooks and bakers for many decades, and Rod was one of them. Rod was also quite a good gardener. He was proud of all the plants he grew, nurtured, and saved many failing plants. Rod and Audrey made residential stops in Corvallis Oregon and Salt Lake City Utah. Rod loved his family very much and was extremely proud of all members. His family and friends are going to miss him, and, his beautiful smile.
Rod was preceded in death by his father (Richard D. Peterson Sr.), younger brother (#4 son) Gordon, and sister, Kathleen. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Audrey Madrill, mother (Donna F.Peterson), oldest brother (#1 son) Richard Peterson Jr. (Pattie), brother (#2 son) Eugene Peterson (Kim), sister, Peggy Luke (Tim), and multiple nieces, nephews, step children, in-laws, and many friends.
Rod’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to St. Luke’s Hospice for their incredible care of Rod during his most difficult time.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society.
