Robert “Bob” William Tidwell, Jr., age 82, of Boise, Idaho, and formerly of Meridian, passed away after a life marked by hard work, devotion, and the enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures.
Bob was born on May 11, 1943, in San Rafael, California, to Robert William Tidwell, Sr. and Shirley Leatrice (Rider) Tidwell. He grew up in Idaho, where he attended Borah High School and graduated with the class of 1962. Bob continued his education at Boise Junior College.
Throughout his life, Bob lived in Boise, Idaho, Yakima, Washington, and Meridian, Idaho, making meaningful contributions to each community he called home. He worked in various trades and professions, beginning his career with Standard Stations, Inc. Bob owned and operated two businesses—Tidwell Construction, where he was known as a skilled finish carpenter, and Meridian Chevron. He also worked at Home Base and served the community as a bus driver for the Meridian School District.
Bob’s life was filled with passions that brought him joy and purpose. He enjoyed mechanics, fishing, camping, and woodworking. Classic cars held a special place in his heart, and he especially treasured driving his 1936 Chevy pickup, a hobby he pursued for many years. Bob valued time with his family, cherishing holidays and camping trips that created lasting memories.
As a proud member of the Idaho Motorcycle Club, Bob embraced the freedom of the open road. He enjoyed riding his 1985 Honda Gold Wing, embarking on many memorable journeys both near and far.
Bob is survived by his sons, William David Tidwell (wife Tracey) of Boise, Idaho, Corey Rider Tidwell (wife Angelique) of Eagle, Idaho, Raymond Marks (wife Sharon) of Meridian, Idaho, and his daughter, Brenda Lynn Fischer (husband Tom) of Star, Idaho. His siblings include Larry Tidwell (wife Cathy) of Salem, Oregon, Thomas Tidwell (wife Kim) of McCall, Idaho, and Rick Tidwell (wife Val) of Boise, Idaho.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense happiness.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Rider Tidwell, his stepmother, Jean Tidwell, his father, Robert William Tidwell, Sr. and his brother, Ron Tidwell.
Bob will be laid to rest at Meridian Cemetery in Meridian, Idaho. A celebration of life for family and friends will be announced later.
The Tidwell family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Life Care Center of Boise for their compassion and care during Bob’s most challenging days.
