On April 28, 1949, Robert Lee Frisbee (Bob) was born to Theda and Robert G. Frisbee in Cherokee, Iowa. He was the second child in the Frisbee family, along with Colleen, Randy, and Ted. The family moved to Mountain Home, Idaho, in 1958 and later to Boise in 1966. Bob attended Capital High School, where he enjoyed wrestling and football and met his wife, Myra Adams. They married in 1967 on Christmas Eve.
Bob and Myra settled in Boise while Bob pursued his career in Sheet Metal through the apprenticeship program. He found a career field he was passionate about and spent his adult years working, teaching, managing, and advocating for the trade in Idaho.
Over the years, Bob and Myra expanded their family with three girls, Amy (Kelley), Hailey (Hipwell), and Jenny (Jodry). Becoming a “girl dad” may not have been part of Bob’s vision, but he fit the role very well. Bob taught his daughters to work by working alongside them. He stayed up late when necessary, helped with school projects, and spent countless hours watching dance recitals. He was the original Dance Dad.
Bob loved to learn and create. He built a cabin, his home, and designed and constructed furniture, including custom metal bed frames for each of his children. Bob also excelled in woodwork and built grandfather clocks, hope chests, and other furniture for his family. He made a go-cart with his grandsons and recently finished restoring a 1938 Chevy truck. His work exemplified the importance of a job well done.
The Frisbee family grew as sons-in-law Glenn Kelley, Carl Hipwell, and Tom Jodry were added. It expanded further with the births of seven grandchildren: Hunter (Kelley), Tucker (Kelley), Lauren (Kelley), Bridger (Kelley), Hudson (Hipwell), Banks (Hipwell), and Gigi (Hipwell), a grand daughter-in-law, Ellie Sasso, and two great-grandchildren: Angel (Santiago) and Willow (Kelley). All the grandchildren loved going to Grandma and Grandpa’s house to play dress up and basketball, drive go-carts, launch rockets, and eat ice cream. He watched grandkids play basketball, baseball, softball, football and dance. He also spent time golfing, swimming, hunting, and fishing with them. Bob was a family man; he prioritized supporting their pursuits.
Bob passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023. His absence from our lives on this earth will always be present, but the values he taught each of us will live on as his legacy.
