Robert "Bob" Eugene Heindel, Sr.

June 26, 1941 — February 20, 2026

Boise

Robert Eugene Heindel, Sr., went to heaven on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Ashley Manor in Boise, Idaho. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boise.

Bob was born June 26, 1941 in Seattle, Washington, to Earl and Gladys (Danaher) Heindel. He attended Seattle Catholic schools, graduating from O’Dea High School in 1959. He attended technical college and learned how to work with unit record accounting machines, the forerunners to today’s computers. As an early programmer, Bob was hired by Boeing and worked in its Minuteman missile development program.

Bob met the love of his life, Lorna Meacham, through his cousin, and they were married in Seattle on October 8, 1960. He was then recruited by Ore-Ida Foods, and the family moved for his job to New Plymouth and Fruitland, Idaho, before settling in Boise in 1968. Bob also worked for Applied Systems, Heinz, and Miicor before his retirement in 2002.

Bob and Lori both valued family above all else. Their kids and grandkids will always remember crazy game nights, fun vacations and camping trips, afternoons at the pumpkin patch, dyeing Easter eggs, and the many other ways they were loved. Bob helped coach his sons’ soccer teams, and they attended countless concerts and sports activities to cheer on their kids and grandkids.

In their spare time, Bob and Lori loved to travel and spend time with friends and their small faith group. As Lori’s health declined, Bob lovingly cared for her the last 20 years of her life, providing an unforgettable example of commitment and selfless sacrifice until her death in 2022.

Bob is survived by four children: daughter Debbie (Mike) Asmus of Mitchell, SD; sons Bob (Cheryl) of Boise; Jeff (Kelly) of Middleton; and Mark (Angela) of Boise; brother John (Jeannine) of Lake Stevens, WA, and sister Mary Zimniewicz of Issaquah, WA; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lori; two brothers, Fred and Tom Heindel; two daughters, Pamela Heindel and Judy Windom; and two great grandchildren; Anderson Heindel and Zoey Heindel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to the Judy Windom Special Education Memorial Scholarship Fund at Boise State University.

A memorial service will be held, 11:00 am, Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 811 S. Latah St., Boise, Idaho.
