Robert Bryan Gregg, lovingly known as Bob, passed away on March 15, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family. Born in Long Beach, California, on April 17, 1935, Bob grew up in Anaheim with his parents, Robert and Ruth Gregg, and his brother, Richard. A standout athlete, he graduated from Valencia High School in 1954 with a football scholarship that set the stage for his lifelong love of teamwork and perseverance.
In January 1955, Bob answered the call to serve, enlisting in the U.S. Army and being stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany, until 1958. It was during this time that he married the love of his youth, Shirley Larson, on July 15, 1956. Together, they made the most of their European adventure before returning to the U.S. to build a life in Orange County, California, where they raised their three children—Robert (Bobby), David, and Sherryl.
Bob’s heart was always guided by service. His deep compassion led him to play a vital role in establishing a sheltered workshop and home for the special needs community. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he was instrumental in founding Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bonner County, Idaho.
Bob was a man of quiet strength, deep integrity, and unwavering love for his family. He faced life’s challenges with resilience and an unshakable sense of purpose. Even in his final battle with lung cancer, he remained surrounded by those who cherished him most.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Gregg; his children, David and Sherryl; his former wife, Shirley Gregg; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He is now reunited with his parents, his brother Richard, and his beloved son Bobby, who preceded him in death.
Bob’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he adored, and the faith he carried through every chapter of his life. His kindness, dedication, and generous spirit will be forever missed but never forgotten.
A service for Bob will be held on May 9th at 12:00 at Bowman Funeral at 10254 W. Carlton Bay Drive, Garden City, Idaho 83714. An honor guard ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd, Boise, Idaho 83714.
