Richard (Rick) Schaerer 1954 to 2024. Rick was the second child born to Richard and Ruth Schaerer in Newark NJ. Proceeded in death by his parents and sister Diane Casey. Survived by his wife of 42 years Tracy (Warden), son Robert, daughter Sarah (Randon) Lance. Sisters Linda Lurhs; Carol (Ken) Jenkins; Jean (Ron) Serano; and brother Tom (Moui); and their families.
Rick joined the Air Force three days after graduating Rutherford High School. He was stationed at Mountain Home AFB, Karamürsel AFB, Turkey, Lowry AFB, George AFB, Spangdahlem AFB, Germany, and Edwards AFB. He worked in Medical Administration and cross trained to Electronics.
After retiring from the AF after serving 20 years, went to work for Micron Technology. Later went back to college and earned a second degree at Boise State University in Medical Administration. Then went to work for St. Lukes Medical Center until he retired at the age of 63. Six months later he started a battle with end stage liver disease. While waiting for a liver transplant, which never came, it turned to cancer which caused his death at the age of 69 years.
