Richard Robert "Rich" Guthrie

Richard Robert "Rich" Guthrie, 64, of Boise, Idaho, passed away, July 28, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends.

Richard was born in Los Angeles, California, June 14, 1962, to Donald Guthrie and Glenice Darch. He later made Boise, Idaho, his home, where he built a life centered around the people and activities he loved most.

Richard shared a special bond with Diane Garner, who was his devoted life partner. Though they were never legally married, they shared a deep love and commitment that remained steadfast throughout the years. Together they created a family filled with love, laughter, and countless treasured moments.

Above all else, Richard was a proud father and grandfather. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Kenny, Breanna, Chet, Senaida, and Dakota, who were the greatest source of pride in his life. He was also blessed with many grandchildren—Maddy, Isaiah, Marley, Kayson, Kalvin, Elexis, Ryder, Halana, and Charlie—who brought him endless joy and smiles.

He is also survived by his mother, Glenice Darch, and his brother, Tim Guthrie. Rich held a special place in his heart for his loyal dog, Raven, who was a constant companion.

Rich had an adventurous spirit and found happiness outdoors. He enjoyed disc golf, biking, being around animals, and simply being outside whenever he had the chance. He was an avid collector with an eye for unique treasures, friends and family often joked that if something was interesting, he would find a place for it. He especially loved attending concerts, with the rock band KISS being one of his all-time favorites. Whether he was exploring, enjoying nature, or sharing stories about his latest collection, Rich embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Rich was preceded in death by his beloved partner, Diane Garner, as well as his treasured grandbabies “angel babies," Ulysses and Kaylin. Though their losses weighed heavily on his heart, his love for them never faded.

Those who knew Rich will remember his adventurous nature, his appreciation for life's simple pleasures, and the love he had for his family. He found joy in spending time with those he cared about, making memories outdoors, and sharing laughter with friends and loved ones. His kindness, unique personality, and generous heart will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rich's legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, family, and friends, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Though he is no longer with us, the stories he created, the love he gave, and the countless lives he touched will continue to be remembered for years to come.
