Richard ‘Rich’ Sella Rutledge II, of Eagle, Idaho, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends. He was born on September 22, 1955, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to Normalee and Richard Sella Rutledge Sr.

On May 24, 1975, Rich married the love of his life, Jeanne Rutledge, in Cottonwood, California. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service to others.

Rich lived in Sebastopol and Redding, California; Katy, Texas; and Eagle, Idaho. He dedicated his life to Jesus Christ. Pursuing faith, learning, and ministry. He attended Anderson Union High School and later continued his education at Shasta Bible College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in theology and an associate degree in biblical studies.

Throughout his life, Rich worked for Albertsons, North Valley Baptist Church, Living Hope Bible Church, Whitney Baptist Church, and Cabela’s. He especially found joy serving as a Youth Pastor for many years. Sharing the Gospel and helping others come to know Christ were among the greatest passions of his life.

Rich enjoyed building classic cars and working on mechanical projects. He also loved hunting, camping, bicycling, water skiing, and many other outdoor activities. His love for the outdoors and adventurous spirit brought him great happiness and created lasting memories with family and friends.

He served at Living Hope Bible Church, Whitney Baptist Church, and Camp Pinewood, where he faithfully encouraged others through his kindness, leadership, and strong faith.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Normalee and Richard S. Rutledge Sr.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanne Rutledge, his children, Rick and (Delores) Rutledge, Luke Rutledge, (Zebulun) and Julie Wladyka, and his sister, Karyn Sue Hoppe. He was also the proudest ‘Poppy’ to; Brynne, Reese, Gavin, Lukas, Lillian, Claire, Nora, Iris, Heidi, and Diana, all of whom brought him immense joy.

Rich will be remembered for his deep faith, servant’s heart, devotion to his family and friends, and the lasting impact he made in the lives of those he met.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests planting trees in Rich’s memory. 

A funeral service will be held, 11:00 am, Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Living Hope Bible Church, 14301 W. McMillan Rd., Boise.

A private family committal service will be held at Dry Creek Cemetery, Boise, Idaho.
