Richard Bud
Jensen
March 5, 1953 – May 28, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard “Dick” Bud Jensen, who left us on May 28, 2026, at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dick proudly served in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1974 during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Japan and spent much of his deployment at sea in waters near Vietnam in support of wartime operations.
Dick lived life with enthusiasm, humor, and an endless supply of energy. If there was a project to tackle, an adventure to plan, or a golf game to be played, he was ready to jump in with both feet. He never seemed to slow down and was happiest when he was building, fixing, creating, or helping someone else.
Golf was one of Dick’s greatest passions. Whether spending time on the course with friends, competing in the weekly senior men’s tournament at Centennial Golf Course, or sharing the game with his children, the golf course was one of his favorite places to be. The friendships he built through golf meant a great deal to him, and he treasured every moment on and off the course.
Dick also loved traveling with his wife, Dani. Together they created countless memories along the Oregon coast and in Mexico, enjoying adventure, beauty, and the simple joy of being together. No matter where they went, Dick’s sense of fun and appreciation for life made every trip memorable.
Those who knew Dick will remember his quick wit, playful sarcasm, and ability to make people laugh. He was selfless, generous with his time, and always willing to lend a hand. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, whether they were lifelong friends or someone he had just met. His joy for life was contagious.
Above all, Dick loved his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, Dani, their children—Nick Jensen, Lexie (Derek) Petersen, Tobias and Timothy Leary, and Sami Emel—and their grandchildren, Bailey and Allie Jensen, Everly and Mara Petersen, and Marley Tallman. Whether gathered for family celebrations or simply enjoying an ordinary day, those moments meant the world to him. He was deeply proud of his family and cherished every opportunity to be together.
While our hearts ache in his absence, we are grateful for the years we shared with him and the memories he leaves behind. His laughter, kindness, work ethic, and adventurous spirit will continue to live on in the lives he touched.
Dick will be missed beyond words, remembered with smiles and stories, and loved always.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
