Richard Gary Nelson

On Sunday, August 7, 2022, Richard G. Nelson, loving husband, and father to two children, passed away at the age of 76.  Rick was born on May 19, 1946, in Compton, CA to John and Jean Nelson.

On September 26, 1970, he married Kerrie Lee Brown.  They raised two daughters, Alisha and Shana.

Rick worked for Laura Scudder’s for over 19 years.  In these early days you could find him on a ball field supporting or coaching his girls.

He loved vacationing with his family in their Winnebago making memories skiing the snowy mountains of Mammoth, water skiing in Lake Havasu, fishing in Bishop, and so many other places and never without fail repairing a flat tire!

In 1994 he had the opportunity to go into business for himself until he retired in 2008 and settled in Boise, ID.  New memories were made with annual visits from his grandchildren.

Rick was an avid golfer and fisherman, lover of western movies, the history channel, and his corvette.   If he wasn’t on the golf course with his buddies, you could find him on the course instructing his wife patiently (wink, wink) or on a corvette run with the Valley Corvette Club.   He was hard working, kind, patriotic, loving, and stubborn.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, John, his mother, Jean, and his sister, Kathy.  He is survived by his wife, Kerrie, his two daughters and son-in-laws, Alisha and Ray and Shana and Marc, his 4 grandchildren, Cameron, Zoe, Austin, and Cayla, his brother, Dave, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Dry Creek Cemetery, 9600 Hill Rd. in Boise.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.
