It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Lee Eck, a beloved father, husband, and friend to many, who passed away on January 17, 2025, at the age of 77 due to complications from a stroke. He left this world surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and enduring memories.
Born on August 3, 1947, in Joplin, Missouri, Dick grew up in the small town of Sarcoxie, Missouri. A Vietnam veteran, he served in three campaigns and returned home physically unscathed. Over the years, he became known for his unwavering generosity, kindness, sense of humor, and the warm smile that could light up any room.
Dick dedicated his life to his work as a master mechanic and to the joy of helping others. Whether racing cars, building and flying airplanes, restoring classic cars, or engineering anything he could imagine, he brought a sense of purpose and passion to everything he did.
He is survived by his loving children, Ryan and Russell, and his beloved dog companion Gizmo.
To those who knew him, Dick was more than just a father and a friend; he was a beacon of love and wisdom. His guidance, laughter, and steadfast support touched everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
In celebration of Dick's life, he will be laid to rest alongside the ashes of his beloved wife, Roberta Jean Eck, who preceded Richard on May 15, 2023., in the lower section of the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 1:00 pm 10100 N Horseshoe Bend Rd, Boise, ID 83714.
