Richard Earle (Rick) Brenneman
Richard Earle Brenneman of Boise, Idaho died on January 12th, 2024, at the spritely age of 75 but his larger-than-life persona and trademark stubbornness will not be forgotten.
He was born on August 19th, 1947, in Alma, Michigan. He was the youngest child and only son of Earle and Roberta Brenneman.
Known to his many friends and family simply as Rick but never Dick, he would say he spent his career in “the lumber business.” He was an avid golfer and a diehard Boise State Bronco football fan.
Rick despised eggs, bad drivers, stupid people, loudmouth know it alls and anyone lacking a sense of humor.
However, Rick had many loves in his life as well. He loved his wife Karen Brenneman of 51 years, his children Robin, Michele and Courtney and his many grandchildren, Patrick, Diesel, Sadie and Brody and taking long afternoon naps in his recliner.
Famously opinionated and short-tempered Rick handed down these qualities to his daughters who have their own sharp tongue and quick wit in their own right.
Rick was a connoisseur of Karen’s famous toffee, peanut brittle, and a lover of all things pizza. He was generous to a fault, would give a stranger the shirt of his back but would sugar coat absolutely nothing. He would always tell you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. To quote Winston Churchill “He was a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.
Rick enjoyed outlaw country music: Waylon, Willie, Hank and Johnny and would love to reminisce about good times and good friends over a scotch or two or three.
Rick was known for his words of wisdom “you just can’t fix stupid.”
Rick’s devout feistiness and stubbornness had served him well throughout his life and even in his last months. Rick was a model of strong will and sheer determination right up until the end of his journey here on earth.
He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his many family and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents Earle and Roberta Brenneman and his sister Norma Jean Vore. He is survived by his wife Karen Brenneman, his daughter’s Robin Brenneman, Michele Han and Courtney Pirman as well as his grandchildren and a large extended family.
Rick was one of the good ones. Cheers to you Rick, we will all miss you, until we meet again!
A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Rick and Karen’s home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.
