Rhonda Jean Horton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, surrounded by those who loved her most.
Rhonda was born to Bessie and Ron Harney, joining her big sister Connie on July 13, 1950 in Caldwell, Idaho. She found joy in exploring the world around her, visiting Western Europe, much of Canada, and all 50 states; a remarkable accomplishment that reflected her deep appreciation for new experiences and the beauty of nature. Among her many adventures, two seasons spent working in Yellowstone National Park stood out as some of her happiest days.
In 1973, Rhonda married the love of her life, Bill, and together they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage filled with laughter, travel, and shared memories. The early part of their marriage was spent in Augusta, Georgia and the southeastern states before moving back to Idaho. Her greatest joy came from her family, and particularly her son Tyler. She became a devoted mother, cheering from the sidelines at countless sporting events and supporting Tyler as he grew into the person she was so proud of.
Rhonda is survived by her husband, Bill; her son, Tyler; her sister, Connie; Bill’s brothers, Buck and Bruce, and all their families. This includes immediate family members and many cousins on both sides of their union. In addition, she left many dear friends who will cherish her memory and continue to be inspired by her adventurous spirit and unwavering love.
A Memorial Service and Life Celebration will be held in Boise at the First Presbyterian Church, 950 W. State Street, on February 28 at 11:00 am, where friends and family will gather to honor a life well-lived and deeply loved. Her ashes will be interred at the VA Cemetery on February 27 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of your choice.
