Raymond “Ray” J. Behrman

Raymond “Ray” Behrman, 92, passed away on December 28 th 2024. He was born to Henry and Martha Behrman on February 23, 1932, in Wolbach, Nebraska. His parents emigrated from Germany in 1923 and settled in a farming community there. After struggling through the dust bowl and depression in the early thirties they decided to take their four sons to Idaho and start over. It was then that they chose to settle in the Lower Crystal area in Weiser, Idaho in 1937 and began farming. They lived there until 1944 before relocating in the Ten Davis Community in Parma, Idaho where he graduated from Parma High School.

He chose the University of Idaho for a higher education, graduating in 1954 with a degree in Agriculture Ed, and commissioned as 2nd Lt. in the Air Force through the ROTC program. In 1953 he married Nyla Groves from Parma, Idaho and from this union their two daughters were born. They had 22 years together before her untimely accident and death. It was in 1976 that he was united with his second love, Caroll Bozman (Behrman) and her three children.

Ray spent three plus years in the Air Force as a pilot before being honorably discharged in 1957, after which time he joined his brother, Fred, in Boise, forming Behrman Bros. Builders Inc. and then began building residential homes as well as land developing. In their partnership of 37 years, they built several hundred homes and developed many subdivisions in the valley.  They took pride in being one of the premier builders in Boise with award-winning homes of the highest quality, always focusing on making every customer a satisfied customer.  They were active members of the Southwest Idaho Homebuilders Assn. for over 37 years. Ray served on the local and state boards many times in different positions. He was honored to be selected as “Idaho State Builder of the Year” once and three times as “Builder of the Year” of the Southwest Idaho Builders Assn.

After retiring in 1994, Ray and Caroll enjoyed many years of taking scenic trips, cruises, trips aboard, time at the cabins, boating, and fishing, etc. Their winter months were spent in Apache Junction, AZ.   God was good.

Survivors include his wife, Caroll; daughters, Shelly (Dick) Miiller; Terry (Greg) Davis; stepson, Scott (Faith) Bozman; stepdaughter, Kathy Rasmussen (Christian), fourteen grandchildren,18 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by stepson, Mark Bozman; his parents; and brothers, Fred, Hank, and Herbert
