Phyllis Mae Edmunson, 81, of Boise, gained her wings on November 7, 2024. Born in Boise on August 15, 1943, she was the firstborn child to the late Bert and Ella (Montgomery) Emery, and big sister to Malcolm Emery of Boise ID, Laura Emery of Portland, OR the late Fred Emery of Missoula, MT, and Janet Emery of Nampa, ID.

Phyllis graduated from Borah High School in 1964 and became a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. When she married, she proudly worked in the home and adopted two sons when unable to bear children. When she returned to the workforce, she worked for the Nampa School District for 30 years as a cook before retiring. During this time, she also became a live-in assistant to Betty Holt, a double amputee. Betty was the Founder of the ACTS – Amputee Center to Support, who was honored as a Distinguished Citizen by the Governor of Idaho for her support of amputees across Idaho. Phyllis made it possible for Betty to live on her own up until she passed away in 2009. Betty’s family wishes to express their gratitude for Phyllis at this time.

During the past 10 years Phyllis resided at Ashley Manor Highmont where she especially enjoyed spending her days with her best friend Jackie Porter.

Along with three siblings she is survived by her two sons, Pride Edmunson, Alaska, and Joseph Edmunson, Colorado, and many nieces and nephews. Two nieces, Teresa Lawrence, Kettle Falls, WA, and Tasha Emery, Kettle Falls, WA, were especially close to her.

Phyllis also had one very special little girl who was like a granddaughter to her for the past 10 years. Mercedes “Sadie” Malone always gave her hand-made cards and even snowmen outside her window and made Phyllis’ face light up with so much love and joy and laughter.

In remembrance of Phyllis please perform a sincere act of kindness for an elder in need. “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”   Matthew 25:40
