It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved mother, Phyllis Guenther, who passed away, peacefully at the age of 95 on March 3, 2025 in Boise, ID. She was born in 1929 and grew up in South Bend, Indiana, with her Parents, Andrew and Pearl Dominick, and her adored sisters Madelyn, Virginia and Babe. In 1961 She married James Ransdell and moved to Louisville, KY. Together they raised a family, lived through tornados, hosted Derby’s and entertained holidays in their Eastern Parkway home for over 50 years. After Jim died, she married Dr. Thomas Guenther and enjoyed babysitting and cooking grilled cheese sandwiches for her grandsons, snow skiing, Bridge with friends, and motorcycle trips throughout the country. After Tom’ s passing in 2011, she moved to Montana, Arizona, Illinois, and Idaho with her daughter Lynda. She loved her 4-legged companion, Roscoe. Phyllis’ sense of humor, zest for life, compassion for others, and personal warmth were unparalleled.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Lynda Ransdell, her son James (Randy) Ransdell, daughter-in-law, Beth Ransdell, grandchildren Jim and Jackson Ransdell, and great grandchild Adrian Ransdell Quiroz. A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held in Louisville, KY on May 16, 2025, location TBA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests That donations be made to the Family Community Clinic in Louisville or your Local Humane society
