Peggy Jeanne Gilbert, age 77, passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 20, 2026, in Nampa, Idaho.
Peggy concluded her courageous year-and-a-half battle with ALS at Meadow View Care Facility, where she formed deep bonds with the staff and caregivers who became like an extended family to her.
She was born on May 26, 1948, in Boise, Idaho, where she was raised. Peggy later made her home in Nampa.
Peggy graduated from Borah High School in Boise in 1966 and went on to attend Boise Junior College. It was there that she met Marlin Tullis, her future husband. Their paths crossed at the Institute of Religion at Boise State while playing ping pong. They shared an instant connection and soon began dating and planning their future together. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on February 23, 1968. Together they welcomed three children: Aaron (1970), Julie (1972), and Kyndal (1975). They later divorced after 14½ years of marriage.
In 1998, Peggy married Wayne Gilbert. They were introduced by his grandmother and made their home in Boise. The couple traveled often for work before eventually settling in Nampa, where they shared 28 years of marriage.
Peggy held various positions as an office manager in physicians’ offices and also worked at Continental Marketing.
Peggy’s strength and compassion were evident early in life when she stepped forward to help guide and care for her siblings following the loss of their mother. This quiet act of love reflected the kindness, resilience, and devotion that defined Peggy throughout her life.
Peggy found joy in cooking, gardening, and dancing, and she carried a special love for driving anything with a convertible top. She especially treasured time in her garden, delighting in growing tomatoes, vegetables, raspberries, blackberries, squash, and sunflowers. She also held a deep love for animals, especially her beloved horse, Suzie, who brought her great happiness.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Peggy will be remembered for her genuine and loving spirit, her gentle kindness, and the warmth she shared so freely. With her soft voice, graceful presence, and beautiful bright smile that could light up any room, Peggy had a rare gift for making others feel comforted, welcomed, and deeply loved.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Guy Harold and Patricia Rogers; her beautiful bonus mom Iva Lou Rogers; her brothers, Harold Craig and Randall Rogers; and her sisters Sherry Rogers-Holgate and Rebecca Smith.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Wayne Gilbert; her son, Aaron Tullis; her daughters, Julie Marquart and husband Scott, and Kyndal Fondren and husband Eric; her stepdaughter, Cristina and husband Nick, and their children, Chloe and Cydney.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Dallon and Kim Fondren, and their children Liam, Callum, Torin, and Eoin; Kaden and Tilli Fondren, and their children Sapphire, Kaden Jr., and Anabelle; Hallie and Adam Robbins, their son Hudson and expected baby girl; Lanie Fondren and her boyfriend, Manuel Wagner, whose devotion, care, and presence were a true blessing to Peggy during her courageous battle with ALS.
Peggy was truly a precious soul — an angel on earth and the best daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother anyone could ask for. She was a talented artist, a beautiful poet, and a lover of all God’s creatures. Her infectious personality and laughter brought joy to so many, and she will be deeply missed.
“We love you to the moon and back,” as she so often said to all of us.
Heaven is lucky to have her.
