Paul Kiesel, 92, of Meridian, ID, formerly of Bay Village, OH, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 19, 2025.
Born in Cleveland, OH, on May 28, 1932, Paul graduated from West High School and married his high school sweetheart, Dolores Reveglia. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, Paul and Dolores settled in Cleveland, OH, where they raised their family in Bay Village.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Viola Kiesel; his brothers, Al, Butch, Leo, and Glenn; and his first wife, Dolores, the mother of his children. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Johann Murphy; his children, Sandra Kiesel (Tom VanderLaan) and Gregory Kiesel (Molly); his grandchildren, Colin Kiesel (Natasha Tieman), Emily Kiesel, and Lucas Kiesel; and his great-grandson, William Kiesel. Through his second marriage, Paul also gained a loving extended family, including Johann’s children, Michael Murphy and Shaun Steward (Randy); grandchild, Lea Steward; and great-grandchildren, Victoria, Melina, and Leelend Steward.
Paul’s Catholic faith was central to his life. He demonstrated his devotion through service as a Eucharistic Minister and his involvement in the Knights of Columbus. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Paul loved football and baseball, coaching and umpiring in the communities he called home. Later in life, he discovered a passion for golf. Paul also enjoyed traveling extensively to destinations such as Hawaii, Europe, India, Asia, and Australia. Ever the patriot, he would always say upon returning home, “America is the greatest country in the world!”
Services will be held in Boise, Idaho, and Cleveland, Ohio.
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Bowman Funeral Parlor, 10254 W. Carlton Bay, Garden City, ID.
Additionally, a visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Berry-McGreevey-Martens Funeral Home, 26991 Detroit Rd., Westlake, OH. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 29, at 10:00 AM at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 525 Dover Center Rd., Bay Village, OH.
