Paul Howard Rodean was called home to be with the Lord on November 19, 2022 at the age of 71 in Boise, Idaho. He was born on January 10, 1951 in Dallas, Texas, to Howard and Lavonne Rodean and was the oldest of five siblings. Despite his diagnosis with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 2, Paul always maintained a positive outlook on life. When he was approximately 10 years old, the family moved to the Bay Area in California and settled in Danville. As a young boy, he became involved with the Cub Scout program and participated in several Pinewood Derby events. He proudly worked his way from First Class Scout to becoming an Eagle Scout. He also enjoyed many family trips to Minnesota to visit relatives.
Paul received Christ into his heart as a young man and his faith became an integral part of his life.
He attended the University of California at Santa Barbara and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1974. After graduating from college, he became involved with slide photography and multi-image production. He was so proud that one of his productions, “Sinatra, Sinatra: The Howitzer Prize Hoax” was presented as part of a show at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco in 1985. Paul had a passion for photography and enjoyed listening to a variety of music including smooth jazz and Christian songs. He liked watching sports, especially the Boise State Broncos football team.
Paul worked for George Oren Tire Specialist, Inc. in Oakland, California, from 1979 to 1997 as a service technician. In 1986, Paul met the love of his life, Dee, at First Presbyterian Church in Berkeley, California, where they were married on May 21, 1988. In 1989, they welcomed their son, Jeff. In 1997, they moved to Boise, Idaho. Paul worked in various sales and technical support positions from 1997 to 2009. Subsequently, he became employed by Hewlett Packard Enterprises as a Technical Services Representative and worked there until his retirement in 2017.
Paul and Dee became members of New Heights Christian Fellowship Church in Boise in 2001 and developed many meaningful and long-lasting friendships.
One of the highlights of his life was traveling to Europe with Dee in 2019. No words can express how enthused he was for some incredible photo opportunities.
Paul is survived by his wife, Dee, of 34 years; son, Jeff (Amber) and two grandchildren, Kaicen and Naomi; father, Howard Rodean; siblings, Laurel Gonzales (Berleen); Bruce Rodean; Carolyn Rodean; and Bonnie Pamiroyan (Randy). He was preceded in death by his mother, Lavonne Rodean.
A Celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, December 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Living Hope Bible Church, 14301 W. McMillan Road, Boise.
Donations are welcomed in his name to the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, MA.
