In Loving Memory of Paul Eugene Cantrell
July 17, 1972 – January 26, 2026
Paul Eugene Cantrell, peacefully left this world on January 26, 2026, at the age of 53. Paul’s breathing gently slowed during the early morning hours, and as the sun streamed through the hospital window, he rested peacefully. Though the decision to transition to comfort care was incredibly difficult, it was made with love, compassion, and deep respect for what Paul would have wanted. We are profoundly grateful to the medical team for their kindness, honesty, and guidance during such a heartbreaking time.
Paul will be remembered as a sensitive, loving, and endlessly generous son, brother, & uncle. He had a vibrant spirit and a deep appreciation for beauty and expression. Music & art moved him. He attended several LIVE concerts over the years. Whenever one of Madonna’s songs came on, everything stopped, and you could count on Paul breaking into his iconic Vogue dance. His artistic talent was shown in so many ways, from his incredible makeup skills (perfecting contouring long before it was a trend) to his unforgettable impersonations. Halloween was a holiday he enjoyed expressing his creative talent. You could count on Paul to come up with the best costumes, often winning first place contests.
Paul shared his gifts freely. Doing makeup for family and friends' weddings over the years, was something truly special and brought him happiness. He always wanted to highlight the beauty others had. You could count on Paul to share his creativity when it came to helping friends & family with landscaping too.
Paul’s love for animals was special and animals loved him! You could count on him to go out of his way to give comfort and make sure animals were safe. His pets brought him joy.
Our greatest hope is that Paul felt the immense love surrounding him in his final days from the kisses, the hand and foot rubs, and the comfort of family by his side. He will be deeply missed for his tight hugs, sweet kisses, heartfelt compliments, thoughtful birthday cards, text messages, weather and news updates, homemade gifts, loud laugh, talking during movies, love for animals, and his famous jalapeño poppers. His affection was deep, genuine, and contagious. If you had the privilege of knowing Paul, you were truly lucky.
Rest in peace, Paul.
Our precious son, brother, & uncle who loved everyone. We shall never forget him.
