With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Patricia “Patty” Mizuta, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated educator. Patty passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her family and her former students.

Born the youngest child of Tadashi and Yoshiye Okura in Auburn, Washington, Patty was raised with the values of kindness, perseverance, optimism and generosity that she carried with her throughout her life.

Patty’s passion for teaching led her to a remarkable career as an elementary and special education teacher. One of the highlights of her career was teaching overseas in Japan, where she truly enjoyed immersing herself in the culture and building meaningful connections with her students. Her experiences abroad enriched her perspective and brought her immense joy, and she often spoke fondly of her time there.

Despite her travels, Patty’s heart was always with her family. She was a devoted wife, compassionate sister and a loving mother to three boys, who were her pride and joy. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her children and grandchildren, creating cherished memories filled with warmth and laughter.

Patty also found joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether it was enjoying time with friends, sewing beautiful creations, or sharing special moments with her grandchildren. Her creativity, generosity, and infectious laughter brightened the lives of everyone she encountered.

Patty will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever be a source of inspiration, reminding us to embrace life with kindness, optimism, curiosity, and an open heart.

A memorial service to honor Patty’s life will be held at Idaho Oregon Buddhist Temple on February 8 th , 2025 at 4:00

May she rest in peace, and may her extraordinary journey continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
