Patricia Mary “Paddi” Artis

69, of Boise, died Sunday, January 12, 2025. The Family will host a Celebration of Life on her behalf at the Barber Park Events Center on April 10, 2025 at 4:00 pm.

Paddi was born March 2, 1955, the fourth of eight daughters to Bud (Thomas) and Rita Conroy. She attended St. Edmunds Grade School and Oak Park River Forest High School in Oak Park, IL.

After high school, in 1975 Paddi made her way to Idaho and began a thirty-six-year career with Morrison Knudsen Company and legacy operations under URS and AECOM, first as Project Relocation Coordinator, Assistant Travel Manager, and later Senior Buyer.

She left AECOM in 2011 but continued to work as a Customer Service Representative and then Buyer through Manpower, Inc. for CitiBank, Motive Power, Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies, and Micron Technology until her retirement in 2017.

After retirement, Paddi spent as much time as the seasons would allow at her cabin in McCall foraging for morels and huckleberries.

Paddi met her husband, Sam, while both were on a project assignment in Baltimore, MD. They were married in 1980 and would have celebrated their 45 th anniversary in August.

In addition to a career that she was proud of, she was a loving mother to four wonderful children. She supported their every dance recital, baseball, football and soccer game, and debate tournaments. She was deeply committed to her family, and she always opened the front door to neighborhood children who needed dinner and a safe place to stay.

She had a hearty laugh. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She did, indeed, do it her way.

She is survived by her husband, Sam; her four children, Julie (Pat) Folan, Sam Jr. (Renee), Lauren, and Hannah; her three grandchildren, Rose and Henry Folan and Sammy Artis; six sisters, Margaret Conroy, Kathleen (Rick) Yelton, Terese Conroy, Julie Mahoney, Liz (Brad) Weller, Gina (Jerry) Broere and the late Tracy Conroy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank DeAnna Root, and the St. Luke’s Hospice team for their professional care and extraordinary kindness during her illness.
