Patricia
Decker
February 17, 1937 – April 25, 2026
Patricia Ann (Girard) Collins Decker passed away peacefully at her home in Nampa, ID on April 25, 2026. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, stepmother and friend. Her love, her humor and her generous spirit brightened the lives of everyone who was close to her.
Patricia was born at St. Anthony’s Home for Infants in Kansas City, MO in 1937. At the age of two she was brought home to Concordia, KS to be raised by her maternal grandmother and her many adult aunts and uncles. Patricia’s large extended family profoundly influenced her warm and lively personality.
During her life, Patricia lived in Missouri, Kansas, Florida, Washington state, and Idaho. She graduated from Concordia Public High School in 1955, and received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Wichita State University in 1974 (Magna Cum Laude). Patricia was married to Norman Collins (from 1955 to 1973), and to Donald Decker (from 1974 to 1986). She and Norman had four children. Patricia gained four stepchildren during her marriage to Donald.
Patricia worked as a stay-at-home mother, a 2nd grade teacher, and she had a long career working in medical offices. She retired in 2005 from the Virginia Mason Clinic in Seattle, WA. In retirement, Patricia volunteered at Seattle’s American Cancer Society Discovery Shop, the Washington Free Press newspaper, and the Horizon House Monday Market thrift store. In her spare time Pat loved spending time with grandchildren, reading mysteries, watching football, playing cards (especially poker) with friends and family, and she enjoyed walking around Seattle.
Patricia is survived by her daughters Carol Collins of Nampa, ID; Peggy Kehoe (Gene) of Honeoye Falls, NY; her son Douglas Collins (Tamami) of Nampa, ID; and her beloved grandchildren: Lynette Kehoe, Julian Collins, Mason Collins, and Dean Collins. Patricia was predeceased by her precious first daughter Christine Dawn Collins (1957-1963). Pat cherished her continued contact with her stepchildren: Steven Decker, Walter Decker, Jessica Hennessey (Michael), Jeffrey Decker, and their children.
A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held in the church hall at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, Kansas on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Patricia’s remains will be laid to rest at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, June 20 at 12 noon. The family invites all who knew her to share their memories and pay their respects at both events.
