Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the age of 96. Pam was born to parents Roy and Blanche Harrington on July 16th, 1927 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, along with her twin sister, Paula. They moved to Caldwell, ID in 1936. “The twins”, as our family affectionately referred to them, were nearly inseperable their entire life. Born 6 weeks early with almost no medical care, their doctor told their parents to take them home and love them because he wasn’t sure how long they would live. To prove him wrong, they were together for 93 years!
Pam attended the University of Idaho for 2 years, was part of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and, while in Moscow, met the love of her life, Charles (Chuck) Urban. They were married in 1949 and enjoyed 66 years together until Chuck’s death in 2015. Chuck’s work moved them to many different places including Boise, Idaho; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Detroit, Michigan; and Los Angeles. They chose to move back to Boise to retire in 1980.
Pam was such a loving and caring person and to her, family was everything. All of us have wonderful memories of large family gatherings at Pam and Chuck’s home, with Pam cooking lovely meals, served at her enormous dining room table. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, attending her grandchildren’s soccer games, gymnastic meets and school plays. After their children were grown, Pam and Chuck traveled throughout the US and had an active social life, playing bridge, going to BSU games, and attending the Sun Valley Jazz Festival each year. Pam loved long walks, flower gardening, playing bridge, reading and, later in life while living at Brookdale Senior Living, playing bingo and attending happy hour.
Pam was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie (Urban) Bearg, her sister, Paula, and her husband, Chuck. She is survived by her daughter Carrie Zeller and her grandchildren Cayla Gearity (husband, Brian), Rich Bearg (wife,Lisa), Andy Munn (wife Jackie Yap) and Allison Munn (husband, Onder Bahadirli). The family is extremely grateful to Brookdale Senior Living for the loving care they gave Pam the last 8 years of her life.
