Obituary

Norman Hubert Gleed, 93, passed away on March 31, 2026 in Eagle, Idaho. He was born October 15, 1932, in Malad, Idaho to Hubert Samuel and Mary R Morgan Gleed. He was the first of six children. He grew up enjoying hunting, hiking, skiing, and family gatherings.

He graduated from Malad High School in 1951. He then attended BYU in Provo, Utah for one year before serving in the army from 1952 to 1954. Upon returning from his army service, he began working for the Idaho Transportation Department. He worked there for 45 years, becoming a top bridge inspector for the state of Idaho.

On March 27, 1959, he married the love of his life, Julia Fay Earl. They were sealed in the Logan, Utah temple. They raised 5 children, 2 sons and 3 daughters. Family was very important to him. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in all clerk positions, including ward, stake, and financial clerk for most of his life. He also served as a Sunday school teacher. Service in the church was rewarding and a priority to him. He was a meticulous record keeper and was highly sought after for his skill and penmanship.

He is survived by his wife Julia of 67 years in Eagle Idaho, his 5 children, Douglas Norman (Kristen) of Midvale, Utah, Joane Quilter (Evan) of Orem, Utah, Suzanne Mazza (Doug) of Soda Springs, Idaho, Diana June (Curt) of Eagle, Idaho, and Andy Hubert (Andrea) of Littleton, Colorado, 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Mary Margaret Johnson of Holladay, Utah, and sister-in-law Nedra Gleed of Malad, Idaho.

He is preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Mary Gleed, his 3 brothers Thomas Henry, Gordon Kay, and Floyd M Gleed, and his sister JoAnn (Larry) Tuttle.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 11:00 am with a visitation one hour prior to the service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located 2900 N. Eagle Road Eagle, Idaho. A graveside service will be held on April 8, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Malad City Cemetery, Malad, Idaho. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bowmanfuneral.com
