Nancy Priest

Nancy Priest, passed away in the early morning of her 82nd birthday. She always had a flair for doing things remarkable and having her life come full circle, did not surprise us!

Nancy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Roy Fletcher Priest and Ivy Baker Priest. She grew up in Bountiful, Utah with her loving parents, spirited older sister, Pat Priest Hansing, and her baby brother, Roy Baker Priest. She enjoyed playing with her baby dolls, imaginative play, and toting her brother around with her everywhere she went. In high school, Nancy was a cheerleader and enjoyed theater and dance.

As a young teenager, Nancy’s family moved to Washington D.C. when her mother was appointed Treasurer of the United States. Nancy’s teenage life was like a dream come true with Debutant Balls, visits to the White House, and even attending an event on an aircraft carrier!

As a young adult, Nancy moved to California and pursued acting. It was at a wedding where she met her husband John Valenzuela. Nancy and John enjoyed a life of social events, boating, skiing, travel and family. Nancy was a doting mother to John Valenzuela Jr. and Patricia Valenzuela. As a family, they continued to enjoy the life they had created together. During this time, Nancy also attending Pepperdine University and received a Master’s Degree in Political Science & International Relations (Magnum Cum Laude).

In 1981, Nancy moved with her kids to Sun Valley Idaho. She enjoyed everything the change of seasons offered; swimming, hiking, picnics, fly fishing, skiing (downhill & cross country). She made life long friends who called themselves the “Howling Coyotes!”

In Nancy’s later years, she moved to Boise to be close to her family. She was devoted to her grandchildren, Ava, Hudson, and Corson. Nancy worked a couple days a week at a Vintage clothing store in Boise. Nancy soon became a favorite of the customers who came into the store!

Although, Nancy leaves behind family and many wonderful friends. We will always carry with us memories of her witty humor, generous heart, acceptance for all, and love for nature. Nancy’s beautiful soul touched everyone she met…
