Mitzi Jean Carrico Slade

June 4, 1954 — November 28, 2025

Boise

Mitzi Jean was born June 4, 1954 in Boise, Idaho with a love, laughter, and zest for life like no other. She passed away November 28, 2025 from cancer. Graduating from Meridian High School in 1972, she followed with an accounting degree from A1 Banking. That led to a 45 year career in banking.

Mitzi had many hobbies: crocheting, camping, snowmobiling, four wheeling (side by side), traveling, and golf (heaven forbid if you have ever ridden with her in a golf cart… you really just hung on for your life). She was a member of the American Sewing Guild Boise. If you imagine she was just sitting in front of one of her many sewing machines and not moving, she had that poor machine humming as fast as it could go and she was spitting out the most beautiful, perfectly made quilts. She so loved to shop for the perfect fabrics and colors and seemed to pick the hardest quilt designs.

Mitzi lived her life laughing (and making everyone around her laugh) through chemo and radiation and all the way to the end of her life. She was funny from the start. Patti remembers a family friend nicknamed Ding Ding visiting the farm. The three sisters were about 8 (Patti), 5 (Mitzi), and 2 (Trace’e). The girls stole a pack of cigarettes from Ding Ding’s jockey box. La and Bobber told the girls to get in the car after Ding Ding left because they needed to go to the grocery store. Patti had the pack hidden down her shirt but had given Mitzi one. Before they were out of the driveway, Mitzi leaned her hand (with cigarette) over the front seat and asked if anyone had a light. They did not drive to the grocery store. They made the long drive to south Cloverdale to apologize to Ding Ding and return the cigarettes. Patti was mortified. The girls were in TROUBLE!

In 2021, Mitzi, Patti, and Trace’e were lucky enough to enjoy a trip to Maui. Mitzi’s back was bothering her and Patti was recovering from a hip replacement so walking and sitting at the beach were not comfortable. They spent time at the pool or toured and shopped. Mitzi was the main driver of their small rental car. Trace’e and Patti learned to get in and hold on when Mitzi was driving. They would take turns sitting in the back seat because Mitzi didn’t know what a speed bump was. She never slowed down and the one in the back usually took the brunt of it. When they saw one up ahead they would almost lay down in the seat as Mitzi would jar them so bad. As the car flew over them, Mitzi would be laughing hysterically. Many of the stores there knew the three as “the sisters” because there was so much shopping. All three had a wonderful time, even though Mitzi would go to bed before the sun went down and got up before sunrise to start banging pots and pans and the coffee pot wondering why the whole world wasn’t awake and enjoying the morning like she did.

Her family includes her husband Clarence Slade, daughter Jenny Lynn Hunter, granddaughter Sophia Trull, grandson Bowen Trull, sisters Patti Moore and Trace’e Mahoney, brother Rob Carrico, stepdaughter Susan Snider, stepson Chris Slade. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Jenny and son in law Isaac Hunter.

Very special thanks to St. Luke’s hospice and Luna House in Nampa for their excellent loving care.
