Michael (Mike) Franklin VanVleet was born at the Mountain Home Air Base August 17, 1954 and passed away at home August 16 th , 2023 just two hours before his 69 th birthday. His almost 10-year battle with ALS is over.
A lot of happiness in those 10 years. His son, Adam married his beautiful wife, Jennifer, and all four of his grandchildren were born. He did things as long as he could: went to the Daytona 500, converted his motorcycle to a trike riding a few years longer, rode a three wheeled scooter to get out and about throwing the ball for the dogs, etc.
During his life he enjoyed riding dirt and street motorcycles, fishing, hunting, golfing, fixing up old cars and motorcycles, working in the yard, camping, and roller skating, snow and water skiing. His first job was at Skateland on Overland. Everyone at Interstate Electric supply called him skates as he skated to and from work and wore them all day. His other jobs were at Wallace Plating, Boise Basin Electric and Wesco. He made wonderful friends lasting a lifetime everywhere he worked.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of over 40 years; sons Cody Parker and Adam VanVleet and wife Jennifer; grandchildren Katleen, Michael, Claire and Adam Benjamin; parents Marilyn & Gerald Lundgren; siblings Terri and Roy Clymer, Rick & Debbie Lundgren, Lorice Olsen, an uncle and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
His Celebration of Life will be October 14 th at 12:30 held at Trinity Fellowship Church, 300 N Latah, Boise, ID. Meal to follow.
