Michael James McGovern was born February 27, 1947 in Oneida New York and was the first born to parents Willis and Ada. His time as an only child didn’t last long and soon he was the oldest of 11 siblings. Sharing resources with 10 other kids, and losing his parents during his teen years, Mike was an easy man who truly appreciated the simple things in life.
In the fall of 1969 Mike was ending a lackluster date when he was introduced to her roommate, Cyndee Campbell. In Mike’s words “I saw Cyndee and I knew that was the person I was supposed to be with” They were married March 7, 1970. Over the next 55 years, Mike built a life based on loyalty and gratitude. He had a job he loved as a postal carrier, a beautiful house in Meridian, and lifelong friendships. But most importantly he had two boys that centered his world and his best friend Cyndee by his side. He might not be able to recall the details of their move from New York to Idaho, or his Army tour in Germany, but he was happy to share all about the boy's wrestling meets, karate matches, high school friends, and first apartments. Even as they became adults, he thought of his boys often as evident with a “Brian” or a “Chris” scribbled next to magazine articles and comic strips. He valued all that he had and was so proud of the life him and Cyndee built together.
