Mike was born in Butte, Montana to Clarence and Joan Malone. The family moved to Pocatello, Idaho when Mike was in grade school.

In June 1983, Mike met the Love of his Life, Julie Jackman, while working at Sears (when she tried to run over him with her car IYKYK 😊). Their romance quickly blossomed and in 4 ½ months from their first date they were happily married for 43 years.

In March 1990, Mike and Julie welcomed their only child, a son, Brian Malone.

As an adult Mike worked in banking and then sales from 1983 to 2018. His sales career included working for Sears, Pocatello Electric, Ace Hardware, and Jim’s Appliance where he retired after 24 years!

Mike has always loved animals and cars; both became obsessions to the very end.

Over the years he has had many pets, mainly dogs including his favorites: Candy, Molly and the very special “Harley Malone”.

As far as cars were concerned, when he was 10 years old, he saw a 1968 Safari Yellow, Corvette Stingray and from that time forward always dreamed of having one. In 2000, that dream came true when he purchased a Safari Yellow 1968 Corvette Stingray!

Mike was heavily involved in various organizations, including Valley Corvettes and Paws Rescue. He was instrumental in helping children and animals alike and their various charities and events. Mike was adamant that all dogs deserve a home and all children deserve a future.

Mike was very fond of the Christmas Toy’s for Tots campaign. For years he and his family donated many toys to help ensure there was no child that Santa Claus forgot.

With Paws Rescue, he volunteered tirelessly to ensure dogs were taken to various vet appointments to help them stay healthy. He also completed home checks to ensure dogs would have a safe and loving forever home.

Mike served as the Valley Corvettes Ambassador to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky for over 10 years. Mike and Julie enjoyed many group road trips with Valley Corvettes. Their longest road trip was in a Corvette Caravan which was 1,896 miles from Boise Idaho to Bowling Green, Kentucky. Most recently in July, they participated in a group run with approximately 25 corvettes from Boise, ID to Spearfish, SD.

Over the years he and his family enjoyed many memorable road trips and cruises, including their 40th wedding anniversary cruise to Tahiti and more recently a Transatlantic Cruise to Rome; continuing on throughout Italy and Switzerland. Mike was extremely fond of his father-son road trips they took to Butte, MT and Tonopah, NV.

Before his passing, Mike was looking forward to attending his 50th Class Reunion at Highland High School in Pocatello, ID. Unfortunately, it was a reunion that he was never able to attend.

Even in death, Mike was still giving to those in desperate need of help. He was a tissue doner and they were successfully able to retrieve multiple tissues to ensure others will live on to have long healthy lives.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Joan Malone, in-laws Ann Jackman Hurtado and Kent Jackman, and cousin, Randy Miller.

Mike is survived by his wife, Julie and son, Brian; brother, Jim Malone and his wife, Kari; his nephew, Scott Malone and wife Madison, great nephew, Jett Malone; his aunt, Lauretta Miller, and cousins Bill, Tim and Jerry Miller.

On his wife’s side he is survived by sisters-in-law Nedra (Jim) Call, Karolyn (Damon) Allred, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends throughout his life.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Friday, August 28, 2026, at The Riverside Hotel-Sapphire Room, 2900 W. Chinden Blvd. in Boise.
