Michael was born in Nampa on June 3, 1942, to Gilbert and Juanita Davis, and passed into the Heavenly presence of God on October 18, 2025. Known as “Mickey” in his undergraduate years, he spent his first six years of school in the Nampa Schools, and then moved to Caldwell, where he graduated from Caldwell High School in 1960. While in high school he was active in student government, and won the Idaho “I Speak for Democracy” contest and a trip to Washington, D.C.
He graduated from Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa (NNU) in 1965 with a degree in Religion and Religious Education. He was active in radio work and newspaper journalism during his college years. At College of Idaho he earned teacher certification and a Master’s degree in school administration. Later he earned several more degrees, in Guidance and Counseling, School Psychology, Advanced Administration, and two seminary degrees, culminating in a Doctor of Ministries degree in Pastoral Counseling from Luther Rice Seminary in Florida. He served schools and churches in 10 states, including Criswell Center for Biblical Studies and Christ for the Nations Institute, both in Dallas, TX. He also served schools in three foreign countries: Nairobi, Kenya; Kwajalein Army Base, Marshall Islands; and Bogor, Indonesia.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; four children, Sherri Hampton, Mary Jo Burchard, Rachel Davis, and Jonathan Davis; five grandchildren; his sister Janet Crumpton; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A “Celebration of Life” service will be held for Mike on Saturday, November 8 at Caldwell First Baptist Church, at 2:00 pm.
