Martha Philomena Rohr

Apr 5, 1938 — Jul 22, 2026

Meridian

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Martha Philomema Rohr, returned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026, walking hand and hand with her angels and her savior, Jesus Christ. Martha was born on April 5, 1938 in Illinois, in a small farming community, to Aileen and George Kuhl. She grew up on the farm and was eager to leave rural life for the city, which was a dream later realized when she moved to Boise, Idaho. She later conveyed the small town values of hard work and frugality to her four children, Kim, Brenda, Eric and Carla. Martha met her husband and the father of her children, William James Rohr, in their hometown in Illinois, but raised their children across the US with Bill’s Navy career ending in Boise, Idaho, in 1972. When their children were grown, Martha returned to school to become a professional barber, following in her father’s footsteps. She became a reliable and trusted friend to many who would come in for a haircut and some good advice, throughout many years. Friends and family both fondly remember her warm chuckle and wonderful sense of humor.

Martha earned her name honestly, being that Martha of the Bible, sister of Mary, was known for her practical nature and tireless hospitality, “Mistress of the house”. Our Martha became well known for her excellent home cooked meals where family and friends would gather to laugh and tell stories. She was also widely recognized as a self-taught Master Gardener who could turn an ordinary plot of land into a veritable Eden, flush with bright fragrant flowers, bright swaying grasses, colorful clay pots, crawling vines, and tall shade trees. Her family and friends would sit for hours in her backyard Eden, drinking sun tea and catching up on everything under the sun. She never failed to lend a supportive hand or ear to any of her children or grandchildren and consistently offered honest guidance and encouragement. Heaven is often described as a garden full of life-giving rivers, trees, and crops for all to enjoy and be restored. We can now imagine Martha as one of God’s most cherished gardeners.

Martha is survived by all of her children and their spouses, Kim Helsley (Mark), Brenda Rounds (Ivan), Eric Rohr (Jan), Carla Rohr (Kim), and her grandchildren, Nick Young, Micaela Young, Morgan Rounds, Seth Rounds (Valerie), Tyler Rohr (Nicole) and Aimee Rohr (Andrew), Dalton Kueny and her great grandchildren, Augustus Stoffregen, Aiden Rohr-Milacek, Avery Rohr-Milacek., Cole Rounds, Madi Rounds, Axton Kueny.
