Marjorie Klassen Erisman died peacefully on July 12, 2026, following an 8-year battle with dementia. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, and friend, and was cherished by all who knew her.
Marjorie entered this world on December 14, 1940, as Marjorie Anne Klassen, the third of five children born to Arthur and Edith (Duncan) Klassen in Aberdeen, Idaho. Growing up on a family farm she learned from childhood the value of hard work, thrift, innovation and creativity. She married John Erisman from Oak Park, Illinois in 1960, whom she had met in 1958 at a church Bible conference. In her married life, she and John lived for a few months in Illinois, then to Southern California, where both of their children, Brian and Janet, were born, then to Northern California, and then to Boise in 1993 due to John's job transfer.
In her active adult life, Marjorie was a loving wife, nurturing mother and grandmother, cook extraordinaire, banker, church financial secretary, Sunday School and VBS teacher. Her hobby, turned small business, was decorative folk art painting, which she started in California and continued after moving to Boise. She was a featured artist at one of Boise's galleries for one of their "First Thursday" events. She and John were regular attendees and volunteers at the Sun Valley Jazz Festival, and they enjoyed many travels throughout the US, Canada, and Western Europe over many years. Before her illness, she had been active at Covenant Presbyterian Church and later at All Saints Presbyterian Church.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, and by a sister, Esther Branch. She is survived by her husband John, her children Brian (Marla) of Carlsbad, CA and Janet Bean (Warren) of Boise, granddaughters Amber and Zeaui Erisman, grandson Joel Bean, brother Paul Klassen of Pocatello, ID, and sisters Joan Schnebele of Redmond, Washington and Nancy Robert of Langley, Washington, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at Grace Memory Care, and the team at Idaho Home Health and Hospice for their care and kindness over the last year.
A memorial celebration of Marjorie's life will be held on Saturday, 22 August 2026, 11am at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 4848 Five Mile Rd, Boise with lunch following the service.
The family requests no flowers, but would instead suggest a donation in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association , Internation Justice Mission, or Covenant Presbyterian Church.
