Marion Wayne “Carp” Carpender, a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather, age 93 passed away peacefully at home in the tender care of his loving family, on May 11, 2023.

Marion was born January 2, 1930, in Brown County, Nebraska to Danny and Gladys Carpender, the second child of seven children. He moved to Idaho with his family in 1943. “He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1948. He worked for Martin Wholesale until he enlisted in the Air Force. Marion then served in the Air National Guard for 33 years for a total of 37 years military service. During that time, he attended and excelled in many schools and training classes offered by the Air Force and the Guard. He retired at age 55.

Marion met Lois Moss in 1950 in Boise on a blind date. They were then married on Lois’ birthday April 14, 1951. Shortly afterwards the guard was activated because of the Korean conflict, and they moved to Georgia, then to California for a year and then back to Boise where they raised their five kids. . He was a competitive athlete. He played football, boxed and softball when he was in high school and in the Air Force. He also played fast pitch softball for years when the kids were young. Marion loved his family and enjoyed including his children, as well as extended family in his activities. He loved golf and played as often as he could. He never got his hole in one but he golfed his age when he was 79. He was very proud of that accomplishment.

Marion and Lois loved traveling in their motorhome and visited all 50 states. They especially loved fishing in Alaska and the Oregon coast, and wintering in Tucson.

Survivors include his children Terri Sessions, son-in-law Max (Marla) Stith, Barbara Carpender, Susan (Clyde) Olsen, and Randy Carpender; sisters Phyllis Stahn, Glenda Larsen, Shirley Biesinger and brother Bruce Carpender (Joan); eight grandkids, five great-grandkids and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his wife Lois, daughter Linda Stith, parents Danny and Gladys Carpender, siblings Donavan and Richard.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Veteran’s Cemetery promptly at 2:00 PM.

A committal service will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise.
