Margie was born in Pocatello Idaho on January 25, 1929, the first daughter of George “Melvin” Dean and Martha “Lucille” Kinnersley Dean. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1947 and Idaho State College with a teaching credential and a speech pathology degree.
Margie married Edmund A (Dee) Bogert Jr. February 13, 1951, and moved to Carmel, California while Dee attended the Defense Language Institute and then later Regensburg, Germany during Dee’s military service. They returned to Pocatello, where Dee joined the family Chevrolet dealership. Margie raised their four children and began teaching at St. Joseph’s School when Heidi (youngest) was in kindergarten. A story she recently shared was walking into the 7th grade classroom and the desks were all shaking. She calmly said to her class, “It must be an earthquake” to defuse the boys who were trying to rattle (literally) her.
Early in their marriage Margie and Dee shared a wish to take their kids to Europe to live. They saved and in 1969-1970, they moved to Leysin, Switzerland for one year. It was an incredible experience for everyone, and Margie’s parents came to visit often. Instilling her love of travel and sharing different cultures enriched all the kids’ lives.
Returning in 1970 to Pocatello, she continued teaching junior high until 1971 when Margie and Dee relocated to California when Dee’s brother and business partner was killed in a plane crash. Margie became a real estate agent, then broker for their housing developments in Salinas. After 10 years in California, Margie and Dee retired to the Bitterroot Valley; specifically, Stevensville, MT. They enjoyed traveling around the country visiting family and friends. Special trips included traveling with family and grandchildren to Europe in 2007 and the region of France where Dee fought in WWII.
In 2004, Margie and Dee relocated to Boise to be closer to their children and grandchildren. When Dee passed away in 2019, Margie moved to Morningstar Independent Living. She enjoyed her life there, especially the bridge group, her Catholic friends, the on-site hair stylist and thirsty Thursdays!
Margie is survived by her children, Rocky (Mary), Terry (Terrance), Michael, and Heidi, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dee and her grandsons Jonathan and Jeremy.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 11:00 am, on June 13, 2026, at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, Ketchum, Idaho. Inurnment will follow in the Ketchum Cemetery.
