Madonna Ann Hobson passed away July 6th, 2023. Her transition was easier knowing she was going to see her parents Walter and Myrtle Noesen and her husband of 62 years Monte Hobson. She was born the only girl in a family full of boys. They had an unbreakable bond. She was able to talk with each one of her brothers before she passed away.
Donna was born on August 25th, 1937 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She attended Holy Rosary Grade School and loved to tell stories of having strict nuns as her teachers. As a 5-year-old, she wiggled too much so the nun tied mom to her chair for the afternoon. She had many fond memories of her schooling and made life-long friendships.
During her senior year of high school, they moved to Pocatello, Idaho. She was heartbroken leaving Minnesota, but it didn’t take long before she made new friends and fell in love with Idaho. She graduated from Pocatello High in 1956 and then from Idaho State University with a BS degree in nursing. She met Monte, at a campus bar and he asked her out. In typical Donna fashion, she told him to take dance lessons. Monte learned how to ballroom dance and they married December 26th, 1959.
Donna worked as a registered nurse at a clinic in Twin Falls, at the VA hospital, and as a nurse to federal employees. Together they had 4 children. She enjoyed being involved with Brownies, Scouts, and attended countless sporting events. She was a charter member of St. Marks and taught in their CCD program. She loved reading, gardening, and cooking meals for her family. A meal was never complete without a hearty salad. In her later years, her friend/caretaker Tania Fuller, helped take Donna’s dog Sparky on daily walks. They also attended Fit & Fall classes building strong muscles and new friendships. A special thank-you to the instructors and participants for the outpouring of support and love while Donna was hospitalized.
Survivors include her brothers, Ronnie, Michael, and David Noesen, her children Nancy Lindberg(John), Joe Hobson(Sarah), Janet Hobson(Rick), and Barbara Schwenkfelder(Trent). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandkids.
A funeral mass will be held July 21st at 10:00AM at St. Mark’s.
