Lynn Hoak Semple, 63, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 25, 2025, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with melanoma. Lynn embodied strength and grace throughout her life, and put her love for her family above all else.

Lynn was born on June 18, 1962 in San Pedro, California to George and Gwen Econn. She lived in Southern California until she was 16, when she moved to Boise, Idaho. Following her graduation from Borah High School, she married John Hoak in 1981 and their marriage was blessed with two children, Jennifer and John. Lynn tragically lost her husband in September of 1991.

A year later, Lynn met her current husband Barry Semple on a blind date. They were married on May 14, 1994, and she gained two wonderful step children, Ben and Allison. Together they welcomed a daughter, Katy, and completed their family.

Throughout her life, Lynn was devoted to those she loved. She dedicated her life to raising her family, always putting the needs of others before herself. She loved to spend her evenings and weekends attending her children’s sporting events and musical performances. She cherished her eight grandchildren, and found great joy in having dogs in her home. She loved going on vacation, and was able to visit many places in her life, ranging from Mexico, to Scotland, and even Greece.

Lynn was diagnosed with Melanoma on September 25, 2019. She received excellent care throughout her disease at The University of Utah Hospital, Huntsman Cancer Institute. She faced her treatment courageously, undergoing three brain surgeries, and continued to live for her family even in the face of disease progression.

Lynn is survived by her beloved husband of 31 years, Barry, her step son Ben Semple(Sam), her step daughter Allison Bonner(Morgan), her son John Hoak and her daughter Katy Semple, and their families, as well as her sister Georgia Leisten (Jim) and their family, and many others. She is pre-deceased by her daughter, Jennifer Giese.

Lynn’s service will be held on Monday October 6, at Eagle Hills Church, 651 N Eagle Road, Eagle, Idaho, 83616, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of gifts or flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter in memory of Lynn’s love of animals.
